How to open PTZ file?

After double-clicking on the unknown file icon, the system should open it in the default software that supports it. If this does not happen, download and install the E-Transcript Viewer software and then manually associate the file with it.

Step 1. Download and install E-Transcript Viewer

If there is no E-Transcript Viewer or similar software in the system that supports files with the PTZ extension, you must first download and install it. Below you will find a list of the most-used applications that work with PTZ. After going to the subpage of the program you will find a link to the developer's website, where you can safely download the software installer.

Step 2. Associate E-Transcript Viewer with the PTZ file extension

If the user already has one of the applications installed, the next step will be to associate it with the file extension PTZ. This can be done in two ways - one is to manually edit the Windows Registry and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT keys. The second way is simpler and definitely recommended for less advanced users.

  • Right click on the unknown PTZ file you want to open
  • Select 'Open with' from the menu
  • Click 'Choose another application'
  • Click 'More applications'
  • Click 'Find more applications on this PC' and indicate the installation location of the appropriate program
  • Finally, select the 'Always use the selected program to open PTZ files' option and confirm the whole operation.

Remember! Manually editing the system registry is only recommended for advanced users, and changes made to it without proper knowledge may result in damage to the system.

Step 3. Check out other possible problems related to PTZ files.

Sometimes it happens that despite having the right application and the correct configuration, there are still problems with opening the PTZ files. You should then find out what is the reason of the problem.

  • Check if the PTZ file is not infected - When the file PTZ is infected with a virus or malware, it probably will not be able to be opened correctly. In this case, scan the PTZ file and take the actions recommended by the antivirus program installed on the system. Most often it is disinfection or deletion of an infected file.
  • Check if you, as the operating system user, have appropriate permissions to work with the file PTZ
  • Check if the icon is an element of the correct file but not only a shortcut to the location where the PTZ file no longer exists.
  • Check that the system has the necessary resources to run the E-Transcript Viewer application and open the PTZ file.
  • Check if the file is complete - Sometimes it happens that the PTZ file was not copied completely from the external Flash memory, or downloaded from the Internet. When the file is incomplete, it is not possible to open it correctly. In this case, please download or copy the file PTZ again.

Step 4. Contact an IT expert

When all of the above methods have failed, it remains to contact an IT specialist or developers of the E-TRANSCRIPT VIEWER program.

Q: How long do I have to download the transcript?

Q: What if they say they didn’t get the transcript?

Q: What is an eTranscript? A: The eTranscript we provide is a PDF document which has security features built in. In addition to the image of your academic transcript, the PDF file also contains technology which will confirm the validity of the transcript when the recipient opens it.

Q: What does an eTranscript look like? A: The PDF looks like our paper transcript. Both types of documents contain identical academic information. Our transcript key will be the final page in the eTranscript we send rather than appearing on the back of each sheet of a paper transcript.

Q: Who accepts eTranscripts? A: We can’t control the recipient’s decisions, but we stand behind the validity of the eTranscript. Many transcript users prefer PDF (electronic) documents. If you are unsure, contact the intended recipient.

Q: How do I know the eTranscript is real? A: When you open the PDF (using a current version of Adobe Reader) a connection via the internet will automatically attempt validation of the document. If it’s valid a blue ribbon icon will appear on the transcript.

Q: How do I receive the eTranscript? What do I need? A: The only requirements are an email account, internet access, an up-to-date browser, and the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. The recipient does not need to have an account with the vendor.

Q: How is the eTranscript delivered? A: The recipient will receive two emails, an initial email notifying them the document is available. When they click the link in the initial email a second will be sent which includes the authentication information necessary to download the document.

NOTE: The transcript itself is not emailed to the recipient. Rather the recipient receives email with a link which allows them to download the transcript.

Q: Can I print the eTranscript? A: We allow printing of the transcript.

Q: Can I forward the eTranscript to someone else? A: The transcript will not be certified as valid for anyone other than the original recipient. Also, note US law states only the owner of the record can authorize transfer of the transcript, so forwarding the transcript may not be legal.

Q: How long will the eTranscript be valid? A: Until we rescind it. We don’t expect that to happen.

Q: How long do I have to download the transcript? A: 30 days. If it’s not downloaded by then, the sender will need to request another transcript.
